U have arrived at the online hub for friends of Camp Dogfish, welcome! First and for us most important, thank you. Long time friends, new friends, people who have never heard of us just stopping in to see what Camp Dogfish is about, thanks for coming through, it has been and is our great pleasure to share our Burning Man experience's with you.
Camp Dogfish truly revolves around an absolutely wild, kind-hearted, highly motivated, long time Black Rock City resident, ‘The Governor’ and his O’so fun dream come to life, the mutant vehicle we call the DoGfish.
The campmates/crew of the Dogfish over the years have fluctuated a bit however our Dogfish family is not forgotten. This year a few of our primary campmates weren't able to make it, yet they were close at heart. Those folks: The Sweed, Jen, Tigger, Bar Back, our pals down the street Freddy, Dalton, our dear friends Julie and Amillia, we miss their shining spirits and all the good-times they’ve brought to our camp.
As those of you that know us know, it takes at least 5 or 6 people for the Dogfish to be fully functional during the nights of the Burning Man and many more to survive the weeks we spend on the playa. We have our bar tender's, driver's, door people, mutant vehicle guardian's (those folks that walk with the DoGfish as it floats the open playa to keep an eye on safety issues), of-course cleaning crew and many other positions are filled. This year our returning crew Craven, Teresa, Ozzy, Airforce1, Dough Boy, Joe, Larry, Tiffinay and Me ‘WayDeep’(Joey), needed help and we had outstanding people rise to the occasion. Tiffay's dear friend Christine, Dough Boy’s son Johnny (Little Shooter), Joe’s pal’s Sloan and Ives, our neighbour's from ‘The Last Bar Standing' Bill, Dennis, and James, these beautiful people and others all helped in so many ways. Also our close friends at station #5 Mike, Big Daddy, Mama, our pal’s at United Mike, Cole, Larry, just to mention a few; without all of these magnificent people and some not mentioned here this year wouldn't have been the best burn yet. Thank you all so very much for the beautiful effort you’ve contributed to making the Dogfish flow. Our deep gratitude goes out to you.
This year as always our collective considered the theme that our fine city has presented us with. Each in different ways of-course, but all of us at some point considered evolution. The idea that from one generation to the next, changes occur in populations and sometimes these changes happen because species need to adapt to enhance their ability to survive. Its also thought by some that when populations change in certain ways a new species can emerge. Burning Man/Black Rock City is an experiment or many experiments, its population is constantly changing however some people remain. Some are continually for whatever reason called back to this dusty playa, maybe like those traits that remain in populations to help them leap and become new species we keep coming back. Ever more able to survive and adapt to the changing world. Maybe not! Just the same this year our camp changed. We grew, we are more conscious of what we’re doing than we were when we began journeying to this disappearing city. We thought about liberation, freedom, sexuality, intoxication, recycling, peace, mortality, down sizing, happiness, love, we found and did these things. Maybe not perfectly just yet, but big things have small beginnings. Seems if this group of people can come together year after year with the will to share, grow, learn, adapt, integrate, be happy, in peace and love, we will leap and become anew. Regardless one thing is certain we will continue returning to this celebration of life in one form or another and when we do, we hope your with us rolling the DoGfish.
Again big THANKS for your visit, we love your feedback and pictures so please take a sec to send your photos and/or give a shout by leaving a note on our guest book or contacting us directly. See ya next year!!!!...
The Governor
